Overview

An app to help young people to strive to become a better version of themselves by doing small and easy actions every day.

Summary

As student at Google UX Professional Certificate, my final project was to design a user experience to help young adults to adopt healthier habits, dedicated to promote wellness and self care.

  • Responsibilities: User research, wireframing, prototyping, UI Design.

  • My role: UX Designer, UX researcher, Product Designer & Visual Designer.

The goal

It is hard for young adults to stay disciplined with their routines, that is why I designed an app that help them become their best versions by completing small tasks each day.

Ideation & Low-fidelity prototype

I sketched ideas for how to address gaps identified in the competitive audit. My focus was mainly on the activity features of the habit tracking app. After this process, I started to create initial designs for the wellness club app. I added two features: One, where the user can upload activity and add a reminder, and two, to use a time tracking option to learn a new habit.

Usability study: findings

I conducted a usability study and some of the findings helped me guide the designs in a better direction to implement those changes to the mockups. revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.

Some of the findings were:

  • Most of the participants didn’t know how they were going to measure their progress.

  • Most participants couldn’t upload a new activity due to a non-functional design.

  • Most of the participants were curious about the content of the self-care “grow” section.

Results

Users shared that the app could help them optimize their time and adopt new habits from the features it contains. I’ve learned during this process that people love to receive sources of motivation during the creation of a new habit, so it is a nice idea to add quotes and affirmations to inspire them throughout the day.
